Job Title.
   Part Time School Based Prevention Specialist

Complete Description of the Job.
   Provide evidence based prevention programs in Saratoga County schools. Must be energetic, flexible and organized. B.A. in education required, M.A. and /or CPP or CPS preferred. Work within the school districts in Saratoga County and provide evidenced-based curricula and activities for the purpose of reducing underage alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. Promote positive youth development in their assigned school districts and communities and be an able and competent professional working with children, teenagers and school personnel. The responsibilities of the Prevention Specialist shall include, but not be limited to: •Ability to schedule, deliver and update evidence-based model programs to students in elementary, middle and high school. •Correspond with school personnel, promptly addressing their needs and concerns. After completion of the programs, certificates are awarded to each student. •Promote the Prevention Council Programs with teachers and administrators, training teachers as needed. •Organizational ability- able to set clear priorities, work independently and manage the demands of multiple school districts. •Assist Supervisor in collecting key informant interviews and data from school personnel in order to plan future programs and strategies. •Utilize the on-line, data collection program as required by OASAS. •Attend drug and alcohol trainings, conferences, and agency sponsored community forums that enhance educational and programming skills. A minimum of 6 prevention education credit hours are required each year. •Maintain responsibility and oversee SADD programs in assigned school districts with the assistance and support of the DWI Outreach Coordinator. •Teach the Risk and Responsibility Class as requested. •The Prevention Educators are responsible for designing and implementing the annual Safe Spring Youth Leadership Conference, this position will require a leadership role in organizing and promoting the conference. •Willingness to work a flexible schedule (including some evenings and weekends) and travel primarily throughout the agency’s geographic area; •Ability to model behavior consistent with the mission of The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council as per the agency’s personnel manual. •Participate in, and actively, support agency fundraising efforts. Qualifications: B.A. in education required, M.A. and /or CPP or CPS preferred. •Master’s degree with teaching experience preferred. •Excellent oral and written communication skills. •Current valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, fingerprinting clearance and vehicle availability.
