   The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) has an immediate opportunity for a Director of Major Gifts & Planned Giving.

The Director of Major Gifts & Planned Giving will report to the CEO and will be solely responsible for the overall management of the Major Gifts & Planned Giving program. The successful candidate will be charged with managing relationships and securing support from existing donors and new prospects that are capable of making individual gifts of $10,000 and up. This highly visible Senior Development opportunity will be responsible for all aspects of the giving cycle including qualifying and cultivating prospective donors and maintaining strong relationships with our current donors.

The Director of Major Gifts & Planned Giving must be passionate about the mission of the TRF and be effective and articulate in expressing this passion. Doing so will require impeccable communication skills including the ability to write well, speak effectively in large and small groups and one on one conversations, and the ability and willingness to listen actively and attentively. Superior relationship-building skills, both internally and externally, are an absolute requirement. A demonstrated record of success must be exhibited. This position can be remote for the right candidate.

Specific Responsibilities:
-Set and meet annual Major Gift fundraising objectives, evaluating results and implementing corrective strategies as needed.
-Call, email and meet with donors on a regular basis to develop and maintain relationships.
-Demonstrate ability to secure individual major gifts of $10,000 and up through personal solicitations.
-Maintain a daily call list and schedule a “to be determined” amount of personal visits/month.
-Schedule and conduct cultivation and solicitation meetings with “asks” via phone, email, and in person with current and prospective donors.

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree and 5 years nonprofit fundraising experience focusing on individual donor development and retention, major gift solicitation, and managing a portfolio of high net worth individual donors.
-Successful and verifiable major gift fundraising securing personal gifts of $10,000 and greater.
-Ability to travel as needed.
-Strong prospecting experience.
-Excellent oral and written communication and solicitation skills.
-Ability to work effectively with various personalities in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines.
-Prior experience with fundraising databases.
-Must have demonstrated experience working with volunteer leadership.
