   Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the Assistant Director will provide dedicated opportunities and career assistance to students within diverse populations (domestic students of color, LGBTQ+, first generation and international) that will help them navigate the career development process by connecting with alumni and employers, and utilizing the unique resources and opportunities available to them to assist in their successful transition beyond Skidmore Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities • Identify and create opportunities with targeted employers who are looking to gain greater access to diverse talent and who offer recruiting programs for diverse student populations • Collaborate and network with alumni to expand and enhance internship and job opportunities for diverse students • Create linkages with organizations that serve diverse college students that help prepare and connect those students to applicable internships, mentoring, and job opportunities (i.e., INROADS, SEO, OUT for Work, etc.) • Identify and collaborate with employers across all career communities who are open to hiring international students • Maintain current knowledge of marketplace trends and topics and facilitate ongoing professional development with emphasis on the liberal arts • Develop relationships with key faculty, staff, student clubs, alumni, and employers to design and promote internships and jobs for students’ career development; address the characteristics and needs of diverse populations when establishing and implementing policies and resources • Work closely with CDC’s Associate Director of Employer Outreach and Strategic Communications to enhance employer awareness and assist in oversight of information sessions, communications, and on and off-campus recruitment initiatives targeting diverse populations • Assist with communication strategies and materials to promote opportunities and engage target audiences • Work with students to help prepare them for opportunities through resume editing, cover letter preparation, and mock interviewing • Collect data and assess cross- sectional and longitudinal outcomes of: outreach, engagement, programs, services, and resources; create benchmarking methodology to examine and measure student progress • Follow new laws and court decisions that could impact the protection of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and proliferate information to the community Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Demonstrated experience in creating partnerships, networking, career development, and understanding of diverse student populations (domestic students of color, LGBTQ+, first generation and international) • Coaching, presentation, and mentoring experience • Knowledge of higher education and student services procedures and practices • Ability to interpret, compile and promote occupational, educational and economical information that will assist students in their career planning • Experience and motivation to work with employers to create unique shadowing, internship, and job opportunities for diverse student populations • Ability to conduct outcome assessments and program evaluations • Ability to interpret and operationalize professional guideline standards to inform work, including the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Professional Standards for College and University and Career Services, Section XI: Access, Diversity, and Equity
