Complete Description of the Job.
   Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt 35 hours per week Reports to: Associate Executive Director This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the case managed homeless shelter facility and affordable housing units to ensure therapeutic, safe and clean living and working environments. The Shelter Manager supervises the Maintenance Technician and provides oversight of assigned volunteers. The focus of this position is to follow best business practices to improve efficiency by reducing operating costs while increasing productivity. Hours: Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Duties and responsibilities: -Oversee the health and safety requirements, cleanliness and maintenance of the interior and exterior of all SOS properties, vehicles and equipment. -Maintain a schedule of routine maintenance and capital repairs for all properties and grounds. -Conduct room inspections to ensure safety and compliance to house rules. -Develop an up to date inventory system of all food, supplies and equipment. Manage in-kind donations and collaborate with other staff to designate items to assigned programs. -Coordinate the purchase of food and supplies. -Food handling, including meal preparation and rotation of food. -Follow OSHA guidelines for storage and handling of food products. -Seek cost-effective vendors and develop an active list of current vendors. -Monitor and assist all third party contractors on maintenance and repair items. Confirm that agreed work has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies. -Interview, hire, train and supervise Maintenance Technician. -Ensure fire drills are conducted on a monthly basis. -Prepare required documentation as assigned. -Respond to phone and email inquiries in a professional and timely manner. -Assist with outreach and fundraising activities as assigned. -Contribute ideas and efforts to the constant improvement of SOS services. -Attend agency, team and community meetings as assigned.  -Utilize shared Google Calendar keeping schedule updated. -Use organizational data sharing methods, including Google Drive and Dropbox. -Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications, Education, Training and Experience: -Associate's degree in Business Management or other related field preferred. -Management experience preferred. -Valid driverís license required. -Proficient in use of applicable computer programs (Microsoft Word, e-mail, and web based HMIS software). Required Skills and Attributes: -A desire to assist homeless individuals. -Ability and willingness to work flexible hours. -Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and good follow through. -Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. -Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. -Ability to respond as needed to crisis situations in an efficient manner. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Physical Requirements: -Position requires ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds unassisted. -Must be able to climb stairs. -Must be able to squat, bend and do overhead reaching and lifting. -Must be able to tolerate working in a cooler/freezer.
