Complete Description of the Job.
   The Special Events and Publications Manager is an integral part of the Tang Teaching Museumís Engagement Team. This position assists in planning, organizing, and executing college and public programs. They supervise and provide staffing for those programs, frequently on nights and weekends. This position also oversees the Tangís visitor services initiative. In addition to supervising the Visitor Services & Events Coordinator, this position trains, schedules, and supervises approximately 12-15 gallery monitors. The Tang has a robust and award-winning publication program. This position provides vital assistance by overseeing the fulfillment of catalogue orders, tracking inventory, and organizing catalogues in storage. This position will also handle on-site sales and phone orders, as well as off-site sales through Amazon.com and through the Tangís ecommerce site. The Special Events and Publications Manager promotes the Tang and its programs through excellence in event management, top-notch customer service in the visitor- facing areas of the Tang, and wide distribution of Tang publications. These efforts will enhance the museumís reputation as a lively and engaging destination, a vital cultural resource, and an important contemporary art museum with a national reach. The successful candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the events calendar. They must be able to work under tight deadlines and be able to interact effectively with diverse constituencies both on and off campus. Minimum Qualifications:Bachelorís degree in arts or management, and at least three years of work experience in a museum or arts organization, including supervisory experience. Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Superior customer service abilities.
