Complete Description of the Job.
   As part of the WIC team of Nutritionists, will plan and administer a comprehensive nutrition education program; plan and conduct in-service training for staff; serve as a liaison to medical professionals and referral agencies to facilitate incoming and outgoing referrals. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Conduct a complete nutrition assessment, determine nutrition risk and enroll participants. 2. Collect information for the nutrition assessment process, including obtaining anthropometric and hematological data. 3. Conduct a breastfeeding assessment, and provide participant centered counseling that helps a mother initiate breastfeeding, establish a milk supply, exclusively breastfeed and continue breastfeeding. 4. Document nutrition services provided, including referrals and follow-up to referrals. 5. Prescribe, tailor, authorize, issue and reissue all food packages. 6. Review and approve formula requests requiring medical documentation in consultation with the Health Care Provider. 7. Track participant’s progress, and document outcomes. 8. Develop and implement high-risk care plans, oversee high-risk care to high- risk participants. 9. Ensure the efficient flow of the assessment and education processes. 10. Provide leadership in planning, conducting, and evaluating Participant Centered Nutrition Education services. REQUIREMENTS – please send a letter of interest along with a resume • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Nutrition. • Experience as a nutritionist in community, social service, maternal and child health setting preferable. • Bilingual in Spanish is helpful. • Experience working with low income families desired. • Good computer skills and data base experience is necessary. • Flexible schedule is necessary, must be available for Thursday evening clinic as well as a rotating schedule for the first Saturday of the month. • Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written), ability to work independently, good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a positive attitude with staff and customers. • Must possess a vehicle and have a valid driver’s license. May occasionally be required to drive own vehicle to temporary off-site WIC clinics.
