   PROGRAM: Hedgerow House JOB TITLE: Relief Counselor (overnights, evenings and weekends) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • High School Diploma and experience in the care of individuals afflicted with Chemical Dependency • Additional education and training will be considered in lieu of experience • Prior knowledge of Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Step approach to recovery and an understanding of the disease concept of addiction • Preference will be given to those with experience providing direct treatment services in a residential setting • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the TSA Automotive Vehicle Program • Computer experience desirable PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS: • Be understanding of the needs of sensitive populations and demonstrate empathy • Have well-developed professional boundaries and high ethical standards • Demonstrate excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills • Possess strong crisis management and problem-solving skills • Have an ability to function as a member of team member and work independently SCOPE: The Relief Counselor reports to the Program Director and House Manager JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide resident care including but not limited to: • Acclimate residents to physical surroundings, program philosophy and expectations • Facilitate community meetings • Function as a team member in providing input toward the evaluation and planning of the general care and ongoing treatment of each resident • Maintain accurate and complete client records • Serve liaison functions to in-house personnel and maintain positive working relations • Attend agency meetings and other activities including opportunities for professional development at the request of the Program Director • Performs certain aspects of maintenance of the house and apartment program, which may include housekeeping, heavy lifting, and other physical exertion as required • Assist with crisis intervention • Transport clients as needed • Be available for overnight, evening, and weekend shifts on an as-needed basis • Coordinate with on-call staff in the event of solitary coverage • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or House Manager
