Complete Description of the Job.
   Summary Responsible for transporting building material products to branch yards, existing homes, and/or construction job sites in a safe, accurate and timely manner. Strong emphasis on excellent customer service and customer satisfaction. Use proper material handling practices to load, secure and unload material for delivery. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service •Acknowledge, greet and assist customers in a timely and professional manner •Identify the needs and provide the appropriate level of assistance to the customer •Effectively research and resolve customer complaints and conflicts •Be respectful of customer’s property Sales Skills •Understand the marketplace •Know product features •Report potential new jobsites Delivery •Verify the accuracy of the load to be delivered •Properly strap and secure load •Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures •Follow guidelines for load placement at job sites •Ensure that each delivery is done accurately, safely and in a timely manner •Communicate to management jobsite problems and or complaints •Work efficiently to minimize truck turn time in the yard Truck Maintenance •Inspect and maintain truck supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that trucks are in proper working condition •Report any mechanical problems encountered with the trucks and associated equipment •Maintain a neat and clean vehicle Staging Loads •Stage loads effectively for delivery •Choose product of appropriate quality •Stage Safely •Stage Quickly •Stage Accurately •Load and secure material on delivery truck Material Handling and Equipment Usage •Exercise principles of material handling and equipment usage to protect company assets •Safe and proper use of equipment Receiving •Understand and follow receiving policy and procedure •Prepare for and unload incoming product efficiently •Effectively report receiving variances to the appropriate person Performance Expectations •Do It Right The First Time - Strive to eliminate errors, prioritize work accuracy, seek opportunities to improve efficiencies •Must have excellent attitude and customer service skills •Must be able to interact and communicate with supervisors, coworkers and customers in a positive and professional manner Safety Expectations •Comply with all safety policies and procedures •Complete required monthly safety involvement •Use proper PPE when required •Maintain a safe work environment •Be aware of surroundings at all times •Work safely at all times General Expectations •Comply with all Company policies and procedures •Develop new and existing skills through educational programs including, seminars, product knowledge training and clinics •Willing to become a member of a committee/team for current or new programs to ensure their success •Attendance at Company/store meetings is mandatory Other duties may be assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. •Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be a minimum of 21 years old •Language Ability: The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and point of sale documents. Along with ability to read and understand maps and route directions. •Math Ability: Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure •Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form •Computer Skills: Basic Certificates and License: CDL A or B license required; driving record must be acceptable to Company standards.
