   Supports the role of parents in family well-being and positive parent-child relationships by encouraging parent involvement in Head Start while providing social service guidance and advocacy based on family goals determined by the family. This position serves as a direct family support to center-based families through needs assessment, goal setting, referral and advocacy processes. Will provide the opportunity for joint case management in conjunction with education and health service area. Able to demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability represent SCEOC positively in the community. Position starts at $12.50 per hour. RESPONSIBILITIES Recruitment and Intake • Responsible for recruiting eligible children and introducing families to all Head Start options and other SCEOC programs. • Completes initial application and eligibility assessment for all children. • Responsible for input of all family intake information into database program. Identification of child and family needs for center-based families. •Develops individual /family goal plans based on family needs assessment and provides on-going support and follow-up. •Provides referrals and follow-up to all SCEOC programs and community agencies. •Advocates for children and families to secure access to and assistance from appropriate sources. •Documents referrals and follow-up in database system. Provides case management for center-based families. •Facilitates case management meetings and case conferences in conjunction with the health and education service areas. •Coordinates service delivery for children and families in conjunction with the health and education service areas. •Documents meetings, case conferences and follow-up in database system. Supports parent involvement in program activities. •Assists Region Manager with organizing child care and transportation support to families for program events, including Family Committee and Policy Council. •Encourages parent involvement in Head Start and other SCEOC programs. Position starts at $12.50 per hour. REQUIREMENTS •Minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework (12 Early Childhood Education credits) as part of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. •Knowledge and experience in Child Development and Early Childhood Education; the principles of child health, safety and nutrition; adult learning principles; and family dynamics. Experience working with young children is a must. Head Start experience a plus. •Experience in performing basic social assessments desired. •Experience working with young children is a must. Head Start experience a plus. •Working knowledge of governmental and social services programs required. •Basic computer skills with Windows applications and word processing skills helpful. •Above average organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently, good interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain a positive attitude with staff and clientele. •Ability to work under pressure and exercise good judgment.
